Topic Question: To what extent does organized crime affect a
society’s youth?
1.
I am interested in writing about organized
crime.
2.
I am very interested in this topic and always
have been. I’ve always loved movies about organized crime, especially films
that are based on true stories because I loved researching about the real
events after I saw the movie. For whatever reason gangsters always fascinated
me, so it seems like a logical topic to write about. Also, being that I am a
member of my society’s youth, I feel it is important and relevant to explore this
issue’s impact on the youth.
3.
I have already discovered, to my surprise, that
organized crime is still an avid issue around the world that negatively affects
communities. As the R.I.C.O. statute has caused organized crime in America to
somewhat die down, it didn’t seem to be as prevalent an issue. However, there
are a multitude of countries that still face issues with organized crime and
its impacts. I need to continue gathering data, however, to answer the question
of how society has been and still continues to be impacted by the cruel hand of
organized criminals.
4.
I could be wrong, however I doubt any reasonable
person out there disagrees that organized crime is an issue. Thousands of people
have died and had their lives harshly affected by mobsters over the years; I
think we can all agree that’s a bad thing.
5.
The topic is definitely researchable in the
given time as there is an insanely large amount of information and history on
organized crime to be researched.
6.
Some subtopics that have emerged in my research
include the economic impact of organized crime, which pertains to my major, and
the social impact of organized crime, which pertains to my fellow youths.
7.
When furthering my research I will definitely
pursue answers to questions that pertain to the impacts of organized crime in
any country where it exists, as well the historical impacts of organized crime
in the United States.
8.
Key terms that relate to this topic include
violence, criminal, justice, illegal, and mercenary.
