annoying ways
In the passage, "Annoying Ways" the author compares slow drivers and sloppy writing. This analogy is to explain how the reader can be annoyed that the writer did not utilize syntax properly, or even cite correctly. I agree with this for when a writer misses simple mistakes it can be "annoying." Stedman uses his old student's work to prove it is annoying when students provide a quote without any context before or after. Noticing this sort of opens my eyes and to remember to look out for this in my next essay. Furthermore, Spider-man is compared to using a quote at the end of a paragraph. The reader is looking for more action but is just left with a quote. Spider-man comes into play by he will hear a noise, shoot his web, he is off, but what's next? What Stedman also establishes as annoying is putting in a citation without telling where it came from. Without the source, the reader does not know if its accurate or reliable. Lastly, the author leaves the reader with a statement that something annoys everyone when it comes to writing.
