Subversion and Remix
The article, "Subversion and Remix" helped my understand what a subversion is and to make a piece of writing a subversion. Before reading this article I just that a subversion was like when you take one work and change the genre. However, by reading this I learned that a subversion is when you present something in a way that was never expected. I found it interesting that by just changing one word in a children's book, like Adam Mansbach did with his book in 2011, you can make the whole thing a subversion. Mansbach's book was very successful on Amazon and I think it was so popular because it was unexpected and many adults have the same struggles with their children, so this subversion perfectly described their feelings. After reading this article I learned ways that I can do my subversion in project three. One of the whats to subvert that I maybe will use is having my work be sarcastic or changing the way a character behaves. If I do a children's book for the project I can follow what Mansbach did and not only change the language but also use the illustrations to subvert.
