subversion and redemption

This article is has made it clearer for me what a subversion truly is. The book, GTFTS is a funny spin on the normal fairy tales. Parent and children do not normally expect this type of language in a children book, making it a subversion. I have always enjoyed spins on things so it is out of the ordinary. SNL (Saturday night live) does this a lot, by making spoofs of songs and creating awkwardly inappropriate kissing scenes at thanksgiving movies, among many other satirical skits. I have also never been a "girly girl" so the spin on princess movies, where the princess does not need the guy or is super great at fighting - are personally the best to me. This will make it easier for me to understand my subversion.
