Wysocki Multiple Media of Texts

This article made me realize that everything I read or watch is all a part of a genre. I have always known the basic characteristics of genres like academic writings, children's books, magazines, and webpages. It is just like a second nature that you observe the characteristics of what you are reading or watching. However, Wysocki does a great job in making it clear how each genre is different and what makes them unique. There are general differences in genres, for example, the audience in which the work is intended for. Wysocki explains that details as tiny as the font, size, and color of the text can also distinguish genres. Through reading this article, I learned how to analyze different genres, like web pages, to understand creator's purpose. When someone creates a website or writes a magazine article every component is added with a certain purpose. I can take what I learned in this article and use this to help me with turning my research essay into different genres.
