“Annoying Ways” was an extremely interesting article in
that I was able to realize that when I do get upset about people using quotes
improperly it is not just me. The excessive use of quotes is something that
many people do and the fact that other people have many similar problems as we
are reading through the articles and makes me realize that writing is an
overall struggle to many people. The analogy Kyle Stedman uses when comparing
all of the quotation errors to different functions of a car such as hitting
something that is in the road to hitting and running over road kill helps
readers today connect the improper use of quotes to annoying driving
experiences we can relate to. Seeing this though opens my eyes and helps me
look at writing papers in a new light and I have realized that I need to really
contemplate where my quotes go in order to make my argument the most effective
and have the reader not get annoyed with my paper in the process.
